Creative HOLIDAY Spaces!


Hi friends....I'm back! I've had to put my Creative Spaces business on hold for most of this year, due to some family responsibilities. (I've been babysitting my sweet, year-old granddaughter part-time earlier in the year, then full-time for the last 3 months)

That precious granddaughter, Madyson, is now moving to Denver, Colorado (her parents are moving there, too!) and I am very sad that she will be living so far away from us, but it's a good move for my daughter and her little family, so we are happy for them.


For those of you who are new to my blog and my business, if you scroll down to the first post on this blog, there is tons of information on Creative Spaces and how it all works listed there!


And now, I'm VERY excited to get Creative Spaces up and running again! And here's a brand new twist....introducing....."Creative Holiday Spaces"! Do you have tons of great holiday decorations, but don't quite know how to put it all together to make your home look fabulous for Christmas? Well, then that's where Creative Spaces comes in! I am offering my services as your "personal holiday decorator"! I will come to your home and help you decorate with the items you already have, help you decorate for a special holiday party or event, or help you determine a fun look or theme that you would like for your home, and help you shop for items to achieve that magical look! (or recommend where to buy the perfect decorations for your home!) I would LOVE to help you achieve all of your holiday decorating goals! By using my services, you will save time and money, and have a decked out home that will be the talk of the neighborhood!


I have been decorating my home for Christmas for over 30 years....it's my very favorite holiday, and I absolutely LOVE to make my home have a warm, magical feel during this special time of year. I have received many compliments over the years about my holiday decor, and I would like nothing more than to help you achieve that warm, magical feel in your home, too!

1. Read over the plans below and choose one that you think will fit your needs and your budget!

Holiday Decorating Plan #1 - Use What You Have!


$60 for a 2-hour consultation (this is special holiday pricing! reg. price: $70 for 2 hours)


Suggestions and written plan on using the decor you have, without purchasing new items. (sometimes a new "eye" is all you need to change things up a bit and make older decor items feel new!) We will address everything from where to put the Christmas tree, how to string the lights on it to make it really "twinkle", how to decorate your mantel, etc.


Holiday Decorating Plan #2- The Party Plan!


$60 for a 2-hour party set-up


I will come and help you set up for that special Christmas party! We'll decorate, set a fabulous table, decorate the "buffet"....whatever you need help with!


Holiday Decorating Plan #3 -The "I Want To Change It Up Plan"!


$60 for a 2-hour consultation


If you are ready for some new decorations for the holidays, and don't know where to start, this plan is for you! I'll give suggestions on new decor, come up with a holiday decor "theme" that will enhance your home, and a written plan. I will also do the shopping for you! ($30 per hour) or go along on your shopping trip to find the perfect decor for you home! ( I have a few amazing places "up my sleeve" for shopping for holiday decor!)


Holiday Decorating Plan #4 - The "I Want YOU to Decorate My Home for the Holidays" Plan


$120 for a 4 hour decorating session


I will come and decorate for you! This is great for those that are short on time, but still want a wonderfully decorated home for Christmas!

Scrappin' In The Dining Room!

Recently, I helped a friend of mine start on her organizing journey. She was sharing a home office with her husband, storing most of her scrapbooking supplies in that office, but actually scrapbooking in her "formal" dining area. (adjacent to the office) Her supplies were starting to take over the office, and hubby wasn't too happy. She wanted to find a way to move all of her supplies into the dining area, but still have it look neat and tidy. And, she wasn't sure if it was "okay" to turn the dining area into a creative space.

I say...if you have a formal living and/or dining room in your house that you rarely use...why NOT turn it into a creative space?! Rooms are for living in and USING, inspite of what they were initially intended to be! My friend uses her formal dining area ONCE a year...at Thanksgiving. Why have a formal living or dining room if you don't USE it?! Sure, they look "pretty", but it''s wasted space if you don't entertain at all.

So, we came up with a plan to move all of my friend's supplies into the dining area, right at her finger tips, and create a space that she loves! (and let her hubby have his home office all to himself!) My friend already had several great furniture pieces...a hutch and a "buffet" cabinet piece, plus a small book shelf. She was already storing some of her scrapbooking supplies in these furniture pieces, but she also had lots of other things...dishes and platters, vases, etc., ...."normal" dining room things. The hutch was also a "catch-all" for kid's artwork and other miscellaneous items.

She found a place for those other things, started clearing things out, and was thrilled with the amount of storage she actually had for all of her scrapbooking goodies! She is going to add another furniture piece under the window, to add even more storage. And, she is going to "purge" some of her little-used supplies, and either donate them, sell them at a garage sale, give them to friends, or put them in "cold storage" in the garage.

We created a "tool center" on the white bookshelf, for her Cricut and Cuttelbug machines, and the cartridges that go with them. Now she knows where everything is.
Stamps are stored in containers on the top of the hutch, papers in paper organizers right in the middle. We add some plastic drawer units she already had, and started filled those with embellishments. There is a cabinet beneath the hutch that you can't see...but that is being cleared out for even more storage.
This just a start, and my friend is thrilled to have a plan to have everything right there in her dining area. She scrapbooks with her friends alot, and her dining table is perfect for that. She also has two small desks for her kids, so they can draw and stamp and paint and even do homework, while mom scrapbooks!
So, if you are looking for more space in your home to scrapbook or craft....why not take a little-used formal living room or dining room and turn it into the creative space of your dreams?! Use furniture pieces you already have to keep everything stored right there, either out-of-sight or right out in the open. Organization will help keep everything neat and decorative. ( I have some GREAT tips for making scrapbook storage more "decorative"!)
